Introduction to Messages in UPME
This section is used to customize various messages displayed throughout UPME screens. Generally, this section contains error/information messages for insuficient permissions. Following screen previews the messages settings with the default values.
Let’s take a look at each message and its usage in different scenarios.
Guests cannot view profiles
This setting is used to display a message when guest users are not allowed to view profiles of users in the website. This is used based on the value of Guest viewing of profiles setting in Privacy Options section. There is another related setting called Display login form below this message below this setting. It’s used to display the login form under the message, so that users can login to access the profiles. By default, it will be enabled and login form will be displayed. You can use this setting to disable login form under the message.
User must log-in to view/edit his profile
This setting is used to display a message when users try to view/edit their own profile without logging into the website. There is another related setting called Display login form below this message below this setting. It’s used to display the login form under the message, so that users can login to access the profiles. By default, it will be enabled and login form will be displayed. You can use this setting to disable login form under the message.
User must log-in to view private content
This setting is used to display a message to non-logged in users who try to view private member-only content. This is used based on the restrictions enabled in [upme_private_content] shortcode. There is another related setting called Display login form below this message below this setting. It’s used to display the login form under the message, so that users can login to access the restricted private content. By default, it will be enabled and login form will be displayed. You can use this setting to disable login form under the message.
User must have permission to view private content
This setting is used to display a message to users who try to view private content restricted for current user. This is used based on the restrictions enabled in [upme_private_content] shortcode.
User Role may not view other profiles
This setting is used to display a message to users who doesn’t have necessary user roles to view other profiles. This is used based on the values of Select User Roles setting in Privacy Options when Logged-in user viewing of other profiles is set to Restricted by User Role.
Registration Closed Message
This setting is used to display a message to users when new user registration is not enabled on your site. If you want to enable registration, go to WordPress General Settings section and enable Anyone can register setting.
Profile Status Message
This setting is used to display a message to users, who try to view other user profiles set to INACTIVE by the profile owners. Profile ACTIVE/INACTIVE statuses can be enabled by using Enable Profile Status setting in UPME User Profile Settings section.
Profile Pending Approval Message
This setting is used to display a message for user profiles which are pending approval by the admin. You will get this message when trying to access the full profile of a user with pending approval.
Terms and Conditions Message
This setting is used to display the message for Terms and Conditions in user registration. You can enable Terms and Conditions checkbox using the Terms and Conditions setting of UPME Registration Options section.
