Scripts and Styles Settings
Introduction to Scripts and Styles
Scripts and styles section allows you to configure the styles and script files of UPME and enable/disable them to prevent any conflicts. Currently, we have basic options to enable/disable critical files in UPME. Consider the following screenshot for Scripts and Styles settings section.
Following are the available settings in this section with their respective functionality.
Disable Fancybox Scripts and Styles
This setting is used to enable/disable the Fancybox script provided inside UPME. This file is located inside
js/upme-fancybox.jsfile. Fancybox is used to generate the popup window in UPME and used for the features such as Profile Image Cropping and View Profiles Inside Modal Windows Currently, we are using Fancybox version 2.1.5. This is file known to be creating conflicts with some themes. So checkout the Fancybox Script issues section for more details.
Disable Tipsy Scripts and Styles
This setting is used to enable/disable the Tipsy script and styles provided inside UPME. These files are located inside
js/jquery.tipsy.jsfiles. This script or styles doesn’t have any known issues. But if you wish to remove unwanted scripts to speed up your site, this setting will be usefull.
Disable FitVids Scripts and Styles
This setting is used to enable/disable the FitVids script provided inside UPME. This file is located inside
js/upme-fitvids.jsfile. FitVids is used to enable fluid widths in video embeds. This script might cause conflict with some of the themes. But we have only got very few requests regading conflicts with UPME.But if you wish to remove unwanted scripts to speed up your site, this setting will be usefull.
Disable Google Font Files for Open Sans
This setting is used to enable/disable the Google Font files used for UPME. WE use the Open Sans font from Google fonts for most of our elements. These files are not located inside UPME. In each request, we get these files externally from Google fonts. We have noticed that some users want to stop generating requests to external sites, to speed up the loading process. In such cases you may want to disable these files and use default fonts.
Fancybox Script Issues
UPME uses Fancybox version 2.1.5. But there are lots of themes that uses older version of Fancybox script. You will experience some conflicts when using UPME with such themes. In such scenarios, you have 2 options to prevent the conflicts. First option is to disable the Fancybox script of your theme. That may result in some features not working in your theme. The second option is disabling Fancybox from UPME. Second one is the recommended option for UPME users. However, after disabling fancybox, you will not be able to use Profile Image Cropping and View Profiles Inside Modal Windows features.
